Hey guys.
Just been lurking for a day or two looking at a few different things, haven't tried modding yet but was wondering if storyline mods are possible? Had a kinda plan for something but need to know how much can be done before i decide if i can be bothered :P

Anything is possible, but there is no way to do anything like that yet or in the near future. It will be a major triumph to slightly alter a mission with different enemies/locations/placement. This is something I'm attempting in my new game remix mod: community.saintsrow.com/forums/topic/433...So, no. Storyline mods are probably out of the question for the time being.

Here are some of the ideas thought of by the developers / design team. They are brainstormed ideas which was never implemented in-game. Although there were about 2-3 extra activites that was part of the game already, but somehow never been activated perse and I believe IdolNinja and other modders are still working on it or can show you. community.saintsrow.com/forums/topic/440...

The 2 activities that Brand Newb is referring to are called Piracy and Guardian Angel. They seem to at least be partially present, and we're trying to reinstate them: community.saintsrow.com/forums/topic/430...No, there is no way to add additional activities currently. The state of sr2 modding is that we're generally forced to use only in game assets and modifying them. The only thing we have been successful in adding are extra weapons, and most of these had already existed and were unused in the game code.

Ahhhhh right yes i did notice the options seemed fairly limited, im going to ask one final question, since u cant change the dynamics of the game as such, is it possible to change stuff in the free-roam world, i dunno for example putting zombies as most common pedestrian? :P

You mean something like this?: community.saintsrow.com/forums/topic/427...Except... only the mesh changes, and they don't act like zombies. They still act like pedestrians, cops, etc. Also, it seems to be really buggy with invisible npcs. The problem is that certain npcs (like zombies) are restricted from spawning on certain action nodes. So you can't actually spawn real zombies into the city. Though Sam and I did have some success with spawning Maero as a hitman target by changing a line in npc_Maero_des.xtbl: <StreamCategory>Spawnable Civilian</StreamCategory> If you did the same and made zombies into spawnable civilans, it might just work.

Honestly, there's an *awful* lot of things you can do with the game if you really apply yourself. Even some things if you don't! So if you want to take a look at the files and stick around for a while, even *you* can learn to do some pretty cool stuff!
But the storyline and activities are heavily integrated into the game, so it can sometimes be very difficult to make changes.

Oooo Ouch at the "Even *you* can learn to do some pretty cool stuff!" hahaha.. I've got some busy stuff coming up in the next few months in terms of other games i'm going to be playing and other stuff in personal life but i reckon i will probably come back and do a bit of fiddling ;) definitely love to get some kind of actual zombie mod going where they attack by default etc..
