Changes
Version 2.0 expands on v1.0 by not only changing the drive wheels, but also improving torque and max speed. My initial drivetrain changes in v1.0 were immensely sucessful, thanks to the feedback from the testers and modders.
Vehicles modified
Septic Avenger - truck_2dr_septic01_veh.xtbl
- Modified the drive to Rear
- Increased torque to 950 from 850. Makes the truck set off from idle faster, and gives more power.
- Max speed increased to 90 from 70 - Nitrous speed increased from 80 to 100
Stilwater Municipal - truck_2dr_garbage01_veh.xtbl
- Modified drive to Rear
- Increased torque to 980 from 880. Makes the truck set off from idle faster, and gives more power.
- Max speed increased to 90 from 70 - Nitrous speed increased from 80 to 100
MixMaster - truck_2dr_construct01_veh.xtbl
- Modified drive to Rear
- Torque increased to 1000 from 800. Makes the truck set off from idle faster, and gives more power.
- Max speed increased to 90 from 70 - Nitrous speed increased from 80 to 100
Bear APC - sp_apc01_veh.xtbl
- Increased torque to 980 from 880. Makes the APC set off from idle faster, and gives more power.
- Max speed increased to 90 from 70 - Nitrous speed doesn't have a setting, this will be added in v3.0 following further tests
- Wheel drive changed from front to rear twin axle to stop understeer and loss of power on cornering and hills
Voyage - van_4dr_04_veh.xtbl
- Increased torque to 600 from 300. Makes the van set off from idle faster, and gives more power.
- Max speed increased to 90 from 70 - Nitrous speed increased from 80 to 100
- Wheel drive changed from front to rear
Topher - van_4dr_03_veh.xtbl
- Increased torque to 600 from 300. Makes the van set off from idle faster, and gives more power.
- Max speed increased to 90 from 70 - Nitrous speed increased from 80 to 100
- Wheel drive changed from front to rear
Go! - car_2dr_standard06_veh.xtbl
- Wheel drive changed from front to rear. Had to add the lines, but this seems to set it rather than being overridden elsewhere.
- I didn't want to increase speed or torque of the car as there seems to be a problem with the back end swinging out too much on corners since changing
the drive wheels. I think this may be a steering angle issue. Further testing needed!
Komodo - wagon_4dr_01_veh.xtbl
- Torque increased to 490 from 290. Makes the Komodo set off from idle faster, and gives more power.
- Max speed increased to 90 from 70 - Nitrous speed increased from 80 to 100
- Wheel drive changed from front to rear
KeyStone - wagon_4dr_sprt01_veh.xtbl
Changed drive to Rear to improve driving capability and reduce understeer
Maximum speed increased to 95, and Max Nitrous speed to 105
Conclusion
Overall, these vehicles are much more fun to drive, especially the Komodo, which should have its name changed, as it is now a lot faster, and sets off quicker than a Komodo Dragon! I need you guys as the testers to do my testing for me, as I'm currently testing in jitter-lag-crash land on my laptop!
Known Issues
The Go! car doesn't seem to want to go around corners correctly since I adjusted the drivetrain. The back end swings out too much as I mentioned in my last post, so I haven't increased torque or top speed on it yet, pending further testing. I think it's a steering angle issue, or that the car needs more downforce on the rear, as it's always been an eager cornering car, even when it was Front Wheel drive. It's going to be a nippy little motor by the time I've finished with it, rather than an Austin Maestro!
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Those of you who have our GoTR mod installed will need to REBUILD it using my /modified/ files, and the ones from the GoTR /modified/ package, otherwise the GoTR mod will stop working correctly. Any of my previously changed files in the 1.8 beta can be SAFELY overwritten.
Files Included
Ive included the modified files, in the /modified/ folder, plus the compiled patch.vpp_pc file. Make sure you BACKUP your existing patch.vpp_pc file before including
this one!
