How much does Dead Rising suck?

Ok I might be a little late in saying this but I finally got myself a copy of Dead Rising and started playing the instant I got home.

What can I say.

I find the game irritating heres why:
[list]
[*]the save system is soo counter-intuitive its not even remotely funny.[/*:m]
[*]save system is confusing (save or save and restart game ... WTF?).[/*:m]
[*]the aiming is horrid.[/*:m]
[*]how the weapons are arranged in the inventory mean you either can't find the weapon you need at the time or you end up breaking a weapon and end up consuming your food or wasting precious bullets.[/*:m]
[*]don't even get me started on the complete inabilty to read any text on screen.[/*:m][/list:u]

And thats only after playing it for a few hours.
I'm again reminded why I don't like Japanese-made games (excluding Silent Hill).

Comparing SR and DR side by side I realise that Saints Row is easily a superior game, in both quality and intuitiveness.

If only Capcom had iMacMan QA-ing for them, I'm sure it'd have been a lot better :D

Awe shucks. :o

And I pretty much agree with your comments. I thought there was no way Dead Rising could be any less than amazing... and then I played it.

The #1 annoyance... when you go into fine aim mode, it aims in the direction your character is facing, and not the direction the camera is facing, so often you'll end up aiming the complete opposite direction you expect. So annoying.

I've taken to just watching my friend play it, since he has the patience to deal with its awkward game mec wrote:

You can change that with the aim mode..
go to Options and you can change it to the direction the camera is fa wrote:

[*]I agree the the save system is udder crap, fortunately for me I have a job and can overcome such shortcomings...a memory card for my second save works wonders for this game. [/*:m][/list:u]

[*]Your aiming is horrid? That's too bad. Last I checked the photographer in a game admitted he hadn't used a gun before...so for sake of realism I don't mind using the trigger to aim. The big gun on the back on the convict's car is really easy to use. Point. Shoot.
[/*:m]
[*]I'm going to side the capcom on the text part- why they hell did you buy a 360 to play it on a crappy t.v.?[/*:m][/list:u]

The game is awesome. You mention it's only shortcomings...honestly though, for me the only problem is the save system. It doens't stop me from playing it. Not like horrible lag does for a certain multiplayer wrote:

WTF, wow you have a job woop-dee-doo. I have a job too however I'm not going to spend MORE money on a memory card just to fix a broken save system. But that wasn't my point, I was talking about the locations of the saves and the fact that you either have to backtrack to the security room or go to the nearest bathroom and if you've done anything in between saving and dieing you lose it all. Not the mention the save points are rare and often hard to get to.

No, I said THE aiming is horrid. Its stiff, unresponsive and generally annoying. I have no trouble with SR but the DR system irritates the hell out of me.

The majority of 360 users probably have SDTV. So Capcom just decides to ignore them... how does that makes sense. Also I've tried it on my 21" LCD (which supports HDTV) the writing is still nearly impossible to read. And as numerous HDTV users have said its still hard to read unless you have a big HDTV or stand with your nose against the screen.

Yes the gameplay (when not aiming) is fun. Everything else sucks. I'm the type of person who if something constantly irritates me I can't stand it. DR has MORE then enough of those irritations.

Dead Rising doesn't have multiplayer. At least the SR guys cared enough about the user to include it.

From my stand point I think that Capcom simply hasn't cared about the user in this game. I'm not sure if they even tested it with focus groups because some of these irritations are EXTREMELY obvious. From day one of my IT degree I've been taught about usability in everything we did. It seems like Capcom either doesn't care about the users or doesn't understand basic usability.

Dead Rising 1 may have done well in sales but unless Capcom addresses the issues from 1 I'd be willing to bet that DR2 wouldn't do anywhere near a wrote:
