This is something I enjoyed on other forums, so maybe all of you will like this too - essentially, talk about anything you want in this thread. Obviously, the main forum rules still apply so no personal attacks or whatnot, but you can go as off-topic as you want from the current conversation, or continue on with what is already posted.
Maybe you just need a place to vent on something - throw it in here! So post away, and have fun. If this doesn't turn out to be a good idea, I'll just remove it and we'll all pretend it never happened.
Maximum of 100 pages per thread.

You wanna give us something to start off with here, Sing? How about a personal question... what'd you do before you came over to run the boards at Volition? And why'd you decide to head this direction? (And yes, we're very happy to have you)

Before this, I worked for a company called OGPlanet (www.ogplanet.com) - a start-up company that essentially took Korean MMO's and localized them / re-published them. All free-to-play games based around the micro-transaction model, but there were a ton of internal struggles which forced me to leave. I joined that company just a few months after they started and grew it to over a million people in their player base. Hopefully we'll have a million people here soon too. :D
I came to Volition kind of by luck and by chance. I was working for a different gaming company and wasn't really enjoying myself. So I started looking around the area, and one of my former co-workers from OGP had worked here as a tester a few years back, since he grew up in this town. He mentioned that Volition was hiring the exact position I was looking for. I knew their background since I had always been obsessed with Descent/Freespace, and of course the SR and RF series. So I gathered up my resume, applied, and after some travel and a few interviews later, I'm here. WOO!
So that's my mini story without getting into it too deep. Now no more questions about me - start chatting...haha

One day I hope to join you all at Volition studios(it's going to be the first place I apply to when I get out of school xD). I had originally wanted to apply to Bungie, but after seeing where they are going with the Halo series, eww...I can't work for a company that doesn't want to do anything but milk a series.

Hi everyone, In on the introduction page I told you that I was getting a job on the mines driving the big dump trucks, unfortunately that job opportunity fell though.
But luckily enough another job at the mines has just opened up as a drillers offsider. (I be part of the drilling team that prepares the rock face for blasting) So I'll get a front row seat to those cool explosions you see on youtube.
Also I just watch a short documentary about Slamball, It looks like a really insane sport.

Guess I could bitch about UPS. I ordered some shoes the other day, just because I'm lazy and didn't feel like taking time out of my day to visit the mall. Well apparently my residence is flagged and they refuse to deliver a package without a signature. My options came down to, taking time off of work (which was why I ordered it to begin with), driving to the hub to pick it up (further than the mall), or have them deliver to my office instead, which they did. But seriously, what kind of convenience am I paying for when they refuse to deliver a package because the driver lost a package of the former residents?
Then yesterday, I get a call about the pants I'd ordered. Apparently they were delivered to the wrong address. Fortunately, the lady that lived there was nice enough to drive over last night and handed it to me. I was very grateful and told her that she should consider asking UPS for a chunk of the driver's salary since she could do the job better than he could. Checked the package and sure enough, it had my address, our driver's just an ass.
I'm ashamed to admit that I worked for UPS for two years.

speaking of packages, I will never use DHL again.
I watched them try to deliver a package to one of my old apartments. It was in a gated community, and they had no way of getting in. Fine, they were supposed to call me, and I'd let them in.
So I'm sitting in my apartment, and outside I hear a loud thump. They had literally thrown my package over the wall, and bashed it off my front door - probably a 30 foot throw.
Granted, the guy had crazy accuracy, but he damaged the contents inside. The only company I trust to deliver stuff now is FedEx.
