THQ policy destroys so much potential...

Hello,

Saints Row The Third has a really epic campaign - but that's it sadly!!

I will try to explain it with Saints Row and Smackdown vs Raw what I mean with THQ policy (didn't play other THQ games), because in both games some stuff with is equal destroys the game from being unbelievable epic.  The story mode from SR3 destroys GTA IV - but GTA IV is still the better game! And I mean - you are the directly rivals so you should make a game which beats Grand Theft Auto! I don't have anything against GTA,  but it's frustrating how the potential is not used here.

The thing which is equal in SR and SVR is: add one feature, remove one feature. Every time, when a new cool feature is a added, an other feature is removed! In SVR, create a title, GM mode, create a taunt and much more was let out of the game and on SR, the entire real multiplayer, shops, choosing campaign missions you've done  already, many open world scripts (currupt police punches people,..) and much more I don't have on my mind know. This is what I don't understand. Exporting those features to the new game can't be hard, the scripts already exists and just needs little adjustments for the new game.

What makes a game alive is multiplayer and leaderboards. I'm a pro in Forza4 and the game would be completly useless without both.

A bad multiplayer is better than no multiplayer, there are still people who play it (look at Halo:Reach, sorry lol but armor lock childs really suck).

The multiplayer wasn't very good at SR2, BUT it was much fun. The multiplayer on GTA is terrible scripted aswell, but cops and robbers, freeplay, gta race and some other modes are so much fun, I had my best online experience in that game.

Leaderboards keep the game alive (especially to the hardcore gamers), because it gives the chance to compete to the world and fight to #1, but I don't like it when it is something like "score" and you can get points by doing all kind of stuff (like at Mafia 2 DLC). The time people needed for a mission, total kills or total whatever would be cool things to track. Or bringing back races from SR2 and record the times on the leaderboard.

I think a Saints Row game needs 4 years to be done and SR3 had only 3. The game qualitiy is not good, the game was not really tested. At the third chapter, when the bridges to downtown are closed it still tries to spawn cars and people there, who just fall in the water lol. In the 4th year that stuff I complain about here could be added easiliy.

I don't have to say anything against the campaign - it's just epic, a milestone and if somebody does not play it, he is missing something epic.

Okay, I just have a request for the users answering this post, discuss it clearly and don't write crap like "eh that doesn't work blabla". NOBODY of us knows why they did SR3 that way and the role of THQ behind the game. I know that publishers make sick time pressures always, that's why I think the fault is more on THQ than on Volition. The game is not fun for more than the 2 weeks that way.

They don't care what we want. They only care about drawing in waves of new players now. I'll agree. The multiplayer was awesome. As a matter of fact, I met my first real Xbox Live friends on there and we started one of the best clans (rose to the 2nd spot) on the leaderboard, Ice Mob. As for SR3's campaign.. I found it lacking and repetitive. Besides a couple cool things, it mostly just copied stuff we've seen in other Saints Row games and renamed them. Some things were just flat out broken.. Why did my character have to drive around in a car with a tiger? They never explained that. You get the basic idea from listening to vocal exchange between MC and Angel and that's it. No cutscene or anything. Another thing is the supposed "Gat Funeral". So, the Luchadores did something at Gat's funeral? News to me. I didn't even know they went to one. Why? Oh, that's right. They didn't show any of that. Speaking of Gat.. What were thinking with that lame death scene of his? Sure, he might not matter much to the new players. But us ol' school SR players loved him. He didn't deserve to go out like that. I'm sure a flock of rabid noobies are going to attempt to flame me, but SR3 was a failure. Just a quick FYI. If you're not a Day-1 Saints Row OG, save it. You just don't know and you never will.

Voltion said in the prima Guide they are not trying to be like GTA so now that you know that You'll stop trolling?

I'm sick and tired of people wanting SR to be another GTA let Saints Row be Saints Row and Grand Theft Auto be Grand Theft Auto

And how do you know every SR fan wants Gat Back? What gives you the right to speak on behalf of all the fans don't have the same opinion as you? there are Saints row vets that also don't care if Gat isn't there and not because they hated him but because there's no use of whining over spoiled milk wiseguy and I could care less if you don't believe the fact that i played the series since SR1.

Go back to grammar school.

You mean he is somehow wrong about his criticism? Overall the campaign is pretty boring. That comes from someone that beat most missions twice on the same character using mods. I disagree that GTA 4 is a better game, the checkpoint system in that game sucks.

The multiplayer is laughable in this game. There is no PvP whatsoever, other than the Cat and Mouse game. Which sucks.

They removed Fuzz and Septic Avenger and added...a boring bike game on the Deckers' island? An escort clone where instead of a hooker you drive around with a tiger?

The bridges open PERMANENTLY making car delivery a pain in the ass after you beat the game. Cars still try to drive over, then they fall into the water

Being on foot is quite imbalanced compared to being in a vehicle. You can get hit by a grenade and still live, but if you get shot too many times with a minigun on hardcore you die. You typically go from 100% to 10% in 2 seconds. Jumping from car to car however means you can't die, the cars are too heavily armored for that, even on hardcore.

Cars randomly explode, civilians get teleported onto their cars. Why? Who knows?

I hate the brutes too. The standard one is okay, but the minigunner rapes you in 10 seconds on hardcore. If you got a truck with nitro he is piece a cake to defeat, just run him over at high speed with nitro on.

Luchadore special grenade guy is laughable compared to every other special in the game. He barely inflicts any damage at all.

Gat is dead, for no ****ing reason.

Phillipe dies in mission 9. We are then left with Killbane, a copy paste of the Batman villain Bane. Not cool.

Companions sometimes stops firing. Completely. Get a STAG turret-car and call Johnny over. He fires once every 50 sec.
No way of getting apocafist if you took mask. Or other way around.

Jumping into some police vehicles barely works half the time. Typically you freeze, then stand there and stare into thin air, then you can move again.

Do you believe everything what developers and publisher say?  They HAVE to say some things because they can't blame their own games. If they would say "We want to be like GTA" (which means we want to be better than Rockstar) than they are calling rockstargames out  - which is embarrassing if the own game is not better.

Did you play the game from the release until now straight? I bet nobody did that - only multiplayer can make that.

Campaign is different to everyone, have to say that I didnt play SR1.
