What can Volition learn from Rockstar?

Now that everyone has had a chance to play SrTT I decided to compare it to its supposed rival GTAv

So I playing GTAv last night and I was listening to the radio station. I realized the music is still pretty sweet.I love the funny banter of the radio hosts (Juliette lewis, Daddy Yankee,Laszlo). I love the funny spoof of conservative talk radio too.

Later I played saints row3 and the radio is complete crap, the songs are dull. I mean really there's a station with just theme songs that rerun over and over and a bunch of garage bands playing. You can't even compare game engines bc the euphoria animations are a work of art.

I wonder how long it took the staff at rockstar to write the stuff for GTA v , I mean think about it (the Tv shows, Radio broadcast intros/conversations/Random callers on the radio, pedestriatrian spouting off/dialogue , and the game internet plus there's a buttload of websites in the game with detailed stories with multiple pages)

Have any of you seen the mods people put on GTAv(New areas, vehicles, guns, charater models, Graphics mods, zombies etc) heres a little taste
This Mod came out just a month ago and GTAv is 4 years old game: www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1rAyM_njdQ&list...

Everyone on this site is always complaining about the DLCs and how there so ****/short/ low quality
GTA V had only two DLC and they added guns, vehicles, compeling characters, cheats, achievements, multiplayer gameplay, story aspects, and both were long in game length. Both of those DLCs are masterpieces.

Yeah GTAv had its faults and saints row the third is a good game but it just feels like a hollow shell of a true sandbox.
Rockstar gives us the little things in a Sandbox game where Saints row the third falls flat on

My Question to you is : What can Vsingular learn from Rockstar?

GTAIV, just so you know.

Okay, what can they learn from GTA4:

- Cell phones ringing every 4 seconds with manditory requests from your 'friends' to go waste your time with bullshit or else losing rep with them is a terribly annoying thing

- A game running around doing people's bitchwork for the entire game is equally unfun and unriviting

- Niko cannot put on seatbelts and flies through the windshield every time you screw up and bump anything. That also is a pain in the ass

- A game that gives less customization than the game before it is also a pain (woops, actually this applies to both series. Though more on GTA4's)

- The ability to walk circles around a person and keep them just awkwardly falling to the ground is hallarious, but retarded

- A game that takes itself seriously is crap. At least overly seriously

- A game that takes everything its predecessor did and does basically all of it worse - Size of the sandbox, variety of sandbox, 2 player simulatious play (no, not everyone wants to pay for Live or can run that horribly unoptimized game on their PC), story, characters, side missions, customization, radio (Lazlo was painfully unfunny in 4. dont know why. Always loved him before), variety of vehicles, types of vehicles (planes!), and pretty much everything but graphics and physics engine, is similarly disappointing and unfun

so, the main thing to learn from GTA4? Make a game that's fun, and doesnt feel like a chore (CUUUZZIIIIN! WANT TO GO BOWLING!? NO!? I HATE YOU!)

And while we're talking about Rockstar, lets look at their other game: Red Dead Redemption

now, this game's single player was freaking awesome, no two ways about it.

But its multiplayer?

Take out almost all interiors, all stores, most NPCs, and make it either a world where nothing is happening (No-kill mode) or a world where people just sit around and snipe you over and over and over (either other mode, though one actually requires them to AIM).

That kind of multiplayer is crap. At least for any period of time. So they could take away the lesson of: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD KEEP FOCUSING ON COOP MODE!

Well firstly, they could use GTA4/RDR's wanted level mechanic. In SR3, you just get a badge/star near the minimap, showing how much wanted level you have, but doesn't even tell you how to lose the damn cops. In GTA4, there's a wanted circle showing where the police are looking at, and the wanted stars are white/grey to show if you are in the police's sight, or not. The next thing they could do is put small mini games like the ones from GTA4 or RDR, such as pool, darts, bowling, poker, blackjack, five finger fillet, etc. In SR3, all the activities are quite similar, for example, "Drive through these checkpoints", "kill those guys" etc.

Steam(I almost never go on steam): You
Comparing Saints Row 2 to Saints Row 3 is like comparing Test Drive Unlimited and Test Drive Unlimited 2.
Enter the dominatrix being combined with SR4? RIP Saints Row series.
