For me it's not the where, how, or with what vehicle. I'm getting the damage persentage. It isn't registering into the saintsbook at all.
Hey if your still having problems getting this challenge try this. get in any vehicle and get up to speed and hit a wall. now when you jump out of the vehicle make sure the vehicle hits only the wall AND NOTHING ELSE. for some reason the car torpedo icon doesn't come up every time but it still counts. i was stuck at 1405 for about a week, then started this and in about half and hour i was done with the challenge!!!

Welcome to the conversation... unfortunately this suggestion was already made some time ago (2nd post on page 2 of this thread). For some people it just doesn't seem to work at all... for others, like me, it worked for a while, but now that Car Torpedo earns me money and not respect it has stopped adding to the damage tally in the Saints Book no matter what method I try (including your suggested one). The root of the problem is not the technique of the player(s), it's that the code for the car torpedo challenge damage tally is clearly flawed and should be patched in an update. EDIT: Okay... I just downloaded the XBox update, loaded up my save profile that was stuck on 0 torpedo damage and did a normal car torpedo running over pedestrians on the pavement outside the main crib. The torpedo dial came up and registered to over 600%, I was awarded 100 repect and my car torpedo damage tally went up to 135/2000. So, it looks like the new update has dealt with the problem. There is a work-around to this issue, and it is because of the upgrades. All you need to do is go to your nearest insurance fraud activity. Start it up and head for a busy road. Build up speed as normal, whilst holding down R1 (the ragdoll move in insurance fraud). Keep holding down R1 & R2 whilst you press traingle to bail. As long as you get some damage from a vehicle going by the points will count. Hope this makes sense

I've had this problem as well, my total damage is stuck at 1150. I've used all kinds of cars, typicly gaining a high gang or police level, i use the over passes and torpedo into road blocks with and without nitro. I've had the gauge rise as high as 715%. It worked for a while but as I said, its now stuck at 1150 damage and won't go any further.

After spending the morning using every theory and permutation discussed here on an old save file as well as a new one, I have yet to add a single point to my total damage score. Will this be addressed in a future patch for the PS3 version?

Try to get to a high speed and hit a wall it took me 14 hours to do so this challenge it is rather annoying i also had car damage perk all maxed out try doing it without that perk maxed out could solve the problem i hated this challenge with a bloody passion.

Tried that too, and I haven't invested in the damage reductions at all. Still cannot gain a single point no matter what vehicle I use, if i target gangs, police, bare buildings, oncomming traffic, nothing works.

I had the same problem i had all the upgrades and i was only a couple of hundred of but i worked out i was increasing sometimes and then it occured to me i shouldnt be driving into cars and people so i drove it into a wall a couple of times and i got it and that led to my future platinium. just realised it doesnt matter if you have got all the damage upgrades just make sure you're driving really fast and all you hit when you jump out is a wall!
