****Update #2 from V-Singular, Feb 22 @ 6:15 PM CST****

We've released a small patch to correct this error. It weighs in at around 83MB.

****Update from V-Singular, Feb 22 @ 2:15 PM CST****

I wanted to provide all of you with an update, and a potential workaround until we can get the proper fix out to everyone.

In our continuing conversations with Valve, we're fairly certain we've found the issue causing this now, but it's going to take some time to correct it and deploy this back out to everyone that is being affected so far. We do not have a specific ETA, but we’re still shooting to have this corrected as soon as possible. We fully understand any frustration this has caused, but we hope to have it corrected and get everyone back in and playing SR:TT once again soon. Thanks as always for your patience.

Now, we do have a potential workaround which has worked for a bunch of test machines here. This is not a guarantee, but until we can get the fix out, this may allow you to play your game. Please follow this specific order below.

1. Download the update (You already did this.)
2. Verify your cache (You probably already did this.)
3. Fail to launch the game (You probably did this too, which is why you're here.)

4. Completely exit out of Steam using "Exit" from either the Steam menu / systray (bottom right corner near your clock)
5. Restart Steam and log back in.
6. Launch SR:TT.

Remember, this is not a cure-all, but by verifying, then restarting Steam and immediately launching the game, we have seen some machines that were locked out, now able to get back in.

****END UPDATE****

Whenever I launch the game all I get is the DX11/10 or DX9 screen, I have tried both and the screen just goes black and then back to the desktop. I verified the game cache on Steam and it validated correctly. I had not had any problems running the game previously. Also I should note that there are no error messages of any kind when it crashes, and I have the Season Pass DLC.

We're currently exploring the issue and attempting to recreate it on our end. We've also contacting Valve to ensure all the correct files went out.

As a final note, we're also following the main Steam thread here.

Some quick questions:

1. Have you purchased Genkibowl VII in the past?
2. Do you have the Season Pass, or did you purchase separately?
3. Have you attempted to verify your cache?  (Library >> Right click on SR:TT >> Properties >> Local Files >> Verify Integrity)

Thanks.

Sweet, Good to hear that.

Volition asked:

1. Have you purchased Genkibowl VII in the past?
2. Do you have the Season Pass, or did you purchase separately?
3. Have you attempted to verify your cache?  (Library >> Right click on SR:TT >> Properties >> Local Files >> Verify Integrity)

1: No. Only DLC I have is Shark kit, Explosives kit, warrior pack. Not commited to buy anything else.

2: No season pass. Bought above when bought game on Steam.

3: Does not apply as game launches fine here since the patch today in both dx11 and dx9 modes. Several save games loaded to test.

Windows 7 64 | 8GB RAM, Asus MB P8Z68-V PRO R1.xx,
CPU: Intel i7-2600K @4.6 Ghz
GPU: Nvidia GTX 580 no o/c, Drivers 290.53

Only antivir installed is MS supplied default stuff.

  Good luck.
