"Why couldn't that be a Red Dead Redemption or a Skyrim?" he said. "I look at that title and I say, ‘Who cares what it is and why it got to be what it is? From that team we can make something that isn't embarrassing."

and

"I don't think (Volition) chose to do what they did because they had all of the options available to them. It was the environment at the time.

"I know I can change that."

Update:

'Ed's note: To be clear, Rubin isn't saying that he's embarrassed of the game or that he's not a fan of Saints Row or proud of Volition. What he's saying is that he hopes that despite my feelings, that the team can impress me in the future. I followed up with Rubin after this interview ran and he reiterated that, adding that he both loved Saints Row the Third and that he thinks the team is capable of more.'

Hard to say whether Rubin back peddled or the writer of the story was incompetent.

Hm, looks like there's hope yet for SR4. as well as THQ. I can only hope that they tone the goofiness down some.

This guy is a tool. I especially LOVED how he tried to back-pedal after his moronic interview. My favorite part about that link to the interview is all the SR3 fans who feel the same was as I do really reaming the guy.

Priceless!

I think this guy doesn't have a clue about SR. And hopefully if he tries to throw his weight around Volition will tell him to go screw himself and take SR4 up another notch of craziness just to say a big F-You to him! lol

When grown men say things like this..

"I haven't played the game, I confess to Rubin, because I wouldn't want to be caught playing it by my wife or my son.  It would be embarrassing."

..it just rubs me wrong. I can't help but assume he's embrassed because of the purple dildo or the sexual inneundo and not the violence because well, 99% of the games out there these days have violence so if violence is his issue, he's in the wrong industry.  The thing is, the fact that most games have no issue embracing violence but soo little embrace sex is the issue.

"Think of the children.."

I do think of the children when it comes to gaming, and I'd prefer them living in a society that condemned violence rather than sex.  But the US, all I have to do is think of the Flynt case to see how weird Americans get when it comes to a lil vagina or sex toys.  In fact, just a few years back I knew a guy who had an adult toy store in Oregon and he dealt with vandalism frequently because people just couldn't deal with the fact he sold dildos to men and women.  Its like OH NOES.. people like to pleasure themselves.  But meanwhile, there were 3 gun shops within the same area and they never had one issue.  This possibly explains why Canadians, they have just as many guns floating around and dildo stores that don't get vandalized, and have far fewer issues with gun violence.  I'm not one of those liberals that hates my country, I love my country but we seriously need to quit having no issue with kids seeing violence on tv, while screaming bloody murder when an actress has a a boob accident during an NFL half time show.  I mean that whole Jackson thing was the perfect example because alll of these people whined that their children saw Janet Jacksons boob, but before that they were watchign a sport where men beat the living crap out of each other, a sport that has been proven to lead to prolonged mental health issues, as well as numerous other ones.

In short, I'd be far more embarassed if my wife and kid walked in on me playign a game where I'm gunning down everyone in a game than if they walked in on me playing a game where Pierce is teasing the MC with a huge purple dildo.

But well.. I blame that fairytale christian, mormon, muslim, and other religious nonsense for the really bizarre mindset many have.

Anywho..

LOL, spot on, Devianza!

I actually showed that cut-scene where Pierce waves the dildo at my player character to my own wife. She thought it was a lot of fun. There's something wrong with that interviewer's relationship, I think. LOL

Hah, a month or two back, Playboy featured a mini Walking Dead comic.  It was just a way for Kirkman to get a lil more PR for his comic, as well as the show, and it was a way for Playboy to look a bit more with the times.  It was a win, win for both parties in my opinion but of course the weirdoes came out of the woodwork.  One guy said there's no way he'd bring home a copy of Playboy because it would be a slam against his wife and his children, and it was just wrong.  I then said, "wait a sec, you have no issue with bringing home a comic that deals with rape, cannibalism, graphic gun violence, etc, and so on, but Playboy is the ultimate sin? Wtf is wrong with you".  He couldn't really answer that, he just said he's loyal to his wife.

The last I checked seeing nude women in magazies is NOT infidelity, screwing nude women is.  If one is in a relationship where there partner has an issue with them merely looking at pictures of nude men or women, they're in an extremely unhealthy relationship because there's either insecurity issues, or an issue with possession, or both.  I learned my lesson years ago to get the hell out of any relationship where the woman had an issue with me watching horror films because of the nudity. They may say its a moral thing but chances are its an insecurity thing and insecure people are best to avoid.
